Tomas Clayton is a British fine artist born in Birmingham in the late 50s.
His background in fine art and graphic design led him to pursue a career as an illustrator yet his natural instincts led him to portraiture, in which his distinctive style and incredible attention to detail really come alive.
Clayton’s work is so meticulous that often times his paintings get mistaken for drawings. By looking closely one can see that the paintings are placed on panels, and its monochrome tones give it an even more intriguing, surreal feel. Some characteristics observed on his portraits are piercing eyes and very textured surfaces, capturing every detail of the human face in his own dark way.
