Thursday Throwback : Sade Adu

Sade Adu, best known for her song “Smooth Operator” is definitely a qualified candidate for our Throwback Thursdays.  Her music style  is a unique blend of smooth jazz combined with elements of R&B , soul, jazz, and soft rock. Sade and her band started in 1983, and quickly rocketed to the top, with their second album ‘Promise’, a quadruple platinum record in the U.S. She has not released as many records as you would think in a 25 year career, however I believe that it is something we can appreciate.
“I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I’m not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand.” Putting quality over quantity, Sade has found herself as one of the most successful female artists in British history, selling over 110 million albums world wide.
