ery rarely do you encounter people as passionate about what they do as Caroline Petit and Jonas Mason. Together, they are Three Seven. A recently launched online store dedicated to a mission: to recycle America’s buried and forgotten treasures.
With little more than passion in their hearts and a pick-up truck as their mode of transportation, traveling hotel and office, these two modern day explorers trekked across thousands of miles of open terrain in search of overlooked gems. Relying on luck as their compass, Mason and Petit scoured the vast countryside, gathering the remains of what others have left behind. “By flipping the coin to decide which way to turn, which dumpster to dive, which junk pile to sift through – we explored abandoned barns, neglected garages, folk auctions – we stepped off the beaten path for hidden memorabilia, each piece with its own story.”
After brushing off the dust from hundreds of pieces of furniture and objects, these things collected stand as a testament to their commitment. The inspiration comes not from their mission, though admirable it may be, but from their journey.
Fascinated by the beauty of the landscapes that are still and intact and by the diversity of peoples they encounter – the stories they collect along the way may prove more valuable than anything they find in an abandoned shed. For these stories open a window to America’s past and shed light on today’s generation.
