The Living Food Project

If one of the basic principles of conceptual art is to challenge and question the nature of art itself, then Minsu Kim’s haute-cuisine venture, The Living Food Project, is its perfect manifestation. As she boldy states, “With this project I propose a future where food shifts towards being a channel of aesthetic experiences – what if food became alive like a fictional character?” Using synthetic biology, Minsu Kim’s edible treats are able to visibly shake and shudder on the plate and all of the dishes on her menu come alive in their own unique way. Each morsel is also built to react to different scientifically researched sensory areas of the mouth as it is consumed by the diner, creating a taste experience that is truly never to be forgotten. Toss away everything you previously knew, felt or thought about food, because it is the dawn of a new day in innovation dining.
