American brother and sister duo, The Belle Brigade, return to Trendland’s pages with a spunk not yet realized in their last visit. “I Didn’t Mean It” showcases a retro rock ‘n’ roll side to their familial folkness. It’s ironic that the track snuck off The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’s Part 1 soundtrack. Swallow the shock, and move on to the content at hand. Despite its album origin–an unbearable association for some–this wailing piece of piano rock pulls from Beatles, and Elton John-like influences, in actuality. Just hear out that impeccable electric guitar solo, and the thought of tween vampires will all but dissipate.

Compiled with their self-titled debut album, this twosome holds a talented flame to the best of song-writers. On top of that, both siblings are multi-instrumental: Barbara Gruska, takes care of the drums, vocals, and guitar, while  younger brother, Ethan ravages on the piano and vocals, taking turns on guitar. The talent runs blood deep. Their father is a movie and television composer, and their grandfather, a multiple-Oscar-winning composer.

Enjoy, and be sure to check out “Losers” from their acclaimed album.
