No introductions are needed for Stella McCartney, neither for her increasingly successful season-by-season career, nor for her famous background. But Interview magazine hosted a lengthy and retrospective talk with the designer by Tim Blanks, about her up-bringing, her memories and her course in the fashion industry and was accompanied by a very appropriate-to-the-interview editorial of McCartney’s Spring/Summer 2012 dresses (of the most photoshooted items of the season). Craig McDean went with a black-n-white approach, elevating Stella’s designs to a part of a fantasy, focusing on bringing out  emotion.  Black-n-white is always the best way to do so, as the sporty dresses with the mixed micro-prints and embossed paisleys now are meant to attach a meta-modern intensity, framing a nostalgic sensuality.

Stella McCartney’s Resort 2012 Collection felt really California cool. The entire collection is really versatile and the pieces can easily be mixed and matched for more great looks. I really liked the extra long and two- tone blazer jackets, as well ad the silk printed pieces.

For next years 70th anniversary of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Hong Kong shoe boutique On Pedder has partnered with Warner Bros to commission the most trendy fashion designers to create their own interpretation of the famous red shoes for a modern Dorothy. Including Bruno Frisoni, Alexander McQueen, Erickson Beamon, Giuseppe Zanotti, Pierre Hardy, Marni‘s hi-tech heels (that play ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ when plugged in) and Stella McCartney‘s strapped sandals or even Azzedine Alaia’s sparkly ballet pumps, the creations are a true homage to the legendary film.

The shoes were unveiled at the On Pedder flagship store on 21 November. At the end of the exhibition, the shoes – including a replica of the original pair worn by Judy Garland in the film – will be sold off in a silent auction and the proceeds donated to charity.

Congrats to Stella McCartney for winning Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in London on Tuesday night, hosted by Zoe Ball at the Lawrence Hall in Westminster. She is only the 5th woman in over 20 years to win the award. Vivienne Westwood also received the Outstanding Achievement Award. Christopher Kane, received the New Designer accolade, while Anya Hindmarch took the Designer Brand award. Agyness Deyn, everyone’s favorite model, won Model of the Year. The new Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, established in memory of the late stylist who died in May this year, was presented by her widower, Detmar, and Philip Treacy, the milliner whose career she launched, to the production Has anyone seen the leg necklace?
