To start the year in color, here is a super visual calendar designed by British graphic designer Derek Bowers, for the 2011 Pantone calendar. The color wheel contains a mosaic of 1440 graphic images with visual and cultural references.

96k is a graphic design studio based in Beijing that was started by Liu Zheng. I saw his collaborative work with photographer LuoHuo in the photograph below and looked up his studio to see what else they had done. I love the integration of graphic elements and illustration on top of photographs.
Inspired by a visit to a museum in Southern Vietnam graphic designer Tiana Vasilijev created and photographed this beautifully handmade typeface using marbling ink, water and a tray. What is fantastic about the result of this project is that it maintains legibility while achieving just enough abstraction.

As I was surfing around I found this cover for Rocket Magazine, of an amazing paper-cut illustration of Lady Gaga made by Lobulo Design. The Barcelona based graphic design studio had a few other illustrations of the same style, which were equally brilliant.
