Ina Jang in Jalouse April 2012

Ina Jang not only takes photos, she also shows you what she likes and doesn’t like in them. That’s because the Brooklyn-based photographer takes to each photo with a pair of scissors, snipping out a few elements of her choosing. “I started it because I was struggling to make images at the time,” she says in a Time Lightbox feature. “I was forcing myself to like everything—from the people I was working with to locations where I was shooting, so I started getting rid of the elements I didn’t like in the picture.”

Already recognized this time last year, Ina produces yet another amazing spread, this time for French magazine Jalouse. The 13-page series is a pretty pastel layout of the season’s accessories, kept from being too saccharine with Ina’s trademark cutting edge.

Scott Hazard’s Photo and Text Constructs

As a graduate of both architecture and art, Scott Hazard puts two and two together in his carefully constructed works—Photo Constructs and Text Constructs. Each piece is made by layering pages or images, which are then torn with concentric holes that add texture and depth.
