Dirty Projectors : Stillness Is The Move
David Longstreth is the main creative force behind Dirty Projectors, the experimental rock band with a constantly shifting line-up and roots in Brooklyn. Longstreth is talented songwriter and busily prolific man, who cuts no corners and responds evasively to media perception – “I’m Gemini, brown eyes, brown hair, about six feet three inches. My music is loud and kind of unruly. Detail-oriented, but also reflects how I enjoy thinking about the bigger picture, like long walks in the woods.” The group’s new album, ‘Bitte Orca’ is actually their fifth, but it looks to be the moment they finally break through to the indie spotlight. The video (see below) to the single, “Stillness is the Move,” is incredibly stunning. It features the group’s three songstresses dancing in the mountains, Longstreth shepherding a llama, and some wolves.
Some final fitting words from their bio:
“Bitte Orca’s idiosyncratically complex, and sincere take on popular music is reminiscent of David Byrne with whom Dirty Projectors collaborated on “Knotty Pine” for the compilationDark Was The Night.
Really, in many ways, Longstreth could be viewed as this generation’s answer to Byrne, a distinctive torchbearer of labyrinthine song arrangements that go down easy. In that vein, it’s fitting to give the Talking Head the final effusive word: “OMG this record is incredible!… Holy shit — a quantum leap forwards and sideways at the same time. My new favorite record. I know this is all too gushy. Whatever, congratulations.”

Are you serious? I'm usually a fan of the stuff you put up here, but just cause she's a friend of Trendland doesn't mean you have to be completely uncritical about this commercial. The objectification of the woman, and also the patronizing of the men, is so sad to me.. it's like a commercial from the 50's?? For Samsung to promote a Smart TV with such a medieval view on gender roles.. I guess the only smart thing about this really is the TV..8
A great work i loved the post.9
Hey there! I just tried out the new Kokorico, by Jean Paul Gautier and also made a review for it, here in Brazil. I really loved the Patchouli like scent.10
