Brooklyn-based artist Fernando Mastrangelo is known for his politically charged work and strict attention to chosen materials.
His first solo exhibition at Mike Weiss Gallery in New York City consists of pieces made almost entirely of sand and salt. In “Nothing”, Mastrangelo explores the nature of these materials and their recontextualization. Together with Amma Studio, his work combines attention to design, color, texture and furniture with a conceptual use of materials, and original casting process. This innovative, cutting edge approach to design comes alive in Mastrangelo’s sand and salt paintings.
