At every fashion week there is always a brand or two that you can count on to set the bar. This week Maria Bonita Extra has definitely stood out as one of Fashion Rio’s superstars. The collection truly speaks to S/S 2013, incorporating recent trends including pastel meets neon, head to toe prints, and hyper constructed/exaggerated hips. One trend that we can’t wait to see on the streets is the high-waisted bloomer, which Maria Bonita has successfully brought into a ready-to-wear style. The collection was inspired by the dragon fly, from the color palette to the feminine and weightless garment design. The use of print in this collection was very prominent, created from the reaction of enzymes on dye, the kaleidoscopic prints take on a life of their own. Everything that went into the show was seamlessly put together, from the perfectly on point soundtrack to the beautiful models owning the Carioca catwalk, we definitely got a sense of what rio fashion week was all about.
