In this beautiful photographic series of conceptual portraits artist, Marie Hudelot explored the symbolic attributes shared between east and west family legacy, specifically between France and Algeria.
Here jewelry, feathers, branches, flowers, hats, decorative ribbons and fodder become evocative symbols of seduction, femininity, youth, memory, fight, life and death. Playing on accumulation, wealth or exaggeration, subjects become still life-like totems or emblems of family and highlight her questions about the complexity of identity through family inheritance.
