Plat de pa, Spanish Food Design

andreu carulla_plat de pa

On a Mediterranean table, bread can never be missing. From this tradition, Catalan designer Andreu Carulla created Plat De Pa – that means “plate of bread” – turning literally bread into the base of the meal, that is to say, the plate. Yes, because these plates don’t have just the shape of a simple bread slice, but real loaves of bread were taken as model, so that each one is different from the other, highlighting the unique and original nature of these tablewares.

They’re made of aluminium and the most romantic thing is that, all together, the slices form a whole bread! This exclusive object has been designed and created for the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain.
