Phoebe English: The New It Brit

Dossier Journal sat down with up-and-comer Phoebe English to talk about her distinctly edgy yet feminine, eponymous label. English, who designs alongside creative director Rose Easton, clearly understands the visual over stimulation of the times, adding subtle theatricality to her clean looks through fabrication and texture. For her S/S 2013 collection, rubber coated and glass beads have been knitted into latex; the erudite designer cited “pairs and repetition” as inspiration. English and her subversive, ethereal aesthetic is definitely one to keep an eye on.

My work has always been about inventing new ways of making things work on the body and producing an engineered textile where the decorative nature of it, is denoted by how it’s actually made. So the production becomes its decoration.
