Pedro Lourenco S/S 2012

Though not a single print was in sight, Pedro Lourenço’s S/S 2012 collection was still as detailed and intricate as any other. The 21-year-old designer—who’s been sewing since he was three, according to his father—was instead “interested in eco-architecture, and the idea of mixing woods with leather, jute and linen. These are very urban materials, but also make for haute couture fabrics and shapes,” he explains.

The collection’s natural, muted colors were given life through touches of yellow, wine red, and metallic hues; while texture came in the form of grass green fringe, organza, and crinkled hemp-like linen. And always one to play with shapes and silhouettes, Pedro spiced up the collection’s decidedly street-chic pieces of low-slung pants and sheer loose tank tops with pronounced epaulets, exaggerated looped leather collars, and over-sized, dual-colored obis.
