Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton

Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton : This Is Stones Throw Records

The inspirational story of the unorthodox indie record label that could is revealed through this powerful documentary film by Jeff Broadway.

Stones Throw Records, founded in 1996 by DJ and visionary Chris Manak (aka Peanut Butter Wolf), has come a long way since in conception. Coming up in a time where music is constantly becoming more and more commercialized and objectified by major label incentives,  profit driven business models, and popular demand Stones Throw stands alone and the decision is a conscious one. Manak through his unique vision has built Stones Throw on a strict foundation of pursuing true artistic value without regard of what will be popular or sell. In turn over the past decade and a half Stones Throw has not only helped to redefine the genetic composition of what is popular but also created a home for those artists who have something invaluable to share with the world but no means of doing so.

The film draws on live concert footage, never-before-seen archival material, inner-circle home video and photographs and in-depth interviews with the folks who put Stones Throw on the map to delve deeper into the label’s enigmatic artists, history, culture and global following. It also features appearances by Beastie Boy Mike D, Tyler, the Creator, Common, Questlove, Kanye West and more.

Whether you are a musician, artist, professional working in any creative field, a small business owner, entrepreneur or simply just someone who strives to approach life to the beat of your own drum this film is a must-see.
