English MC Dizzee Rascal has released a video and single from his latest mix tape, “Bassline Junkie,” and the message is clear: drugs are bad, bass is good. This video features the rapper recruiting various children, prisoners, and parishioners to his cause, the Word of Bassline, exorcising the spirit of the baseline out of funky followers. “I don’t need no speed, I don’t need no heroin, I don’t want no coke, you can keep your ketamine, I’m a bassline junkie.” Definitely a good idea to use a little comedy in attempts to intervene with partygoers and their vices, and Rascal always manages to fit that bill. Now that the MC (real name: Dylan Kwabena Mills) has cleared that up, are drugs good? are drugs bad? The question remains: how many Number 1 chart toppers will come off of his forthcoming album? Due for release sometime later this year, if this teaser material is any indication, we hope for more than a few.
