Mykita’s Eyewear Collaborations

Mykita x Alexandre Herchcovitch

In the last year each time my jaw drops in awe from a new pair of sunglasses (usually from a runway look) it always traces back to a designer collaboration with Mykita. It has happened one too many times to ignore, so I thought I should do a little highlight on a few of the recent designer collabs Mykita has done. The most recent one that struck me is featured above, the Anai (see the Iara below), a series designed in collaboration for Alexandre Herchcovitch for his SS 2011 show.

The series was initially inspired by couple of classic frame shapes Herchcovitch always loved, as worn by the iconic architect Le Corbusier himself.

Actually these are just amazing! I wear glasses full time so having prescriptions can also mean the frames choices are limited or just plain boring. But I have discovered I can always buy some amazing designer sunglasses and have my lenses fitted into them. This is certainly something I’m putting on my shortlist for new frames.

I really do love the slightly abstract or avant garde and these are so unique that I know I’ll never see anyone in my local area wearing anything like it. The last ones (combined helmet) not so much but still.

Everything on here looks like 3d computer graphics made real. The Kremer skullcaps leave me wondering if they come in different sizes. I mean, surely everyone can’t have the same size forehead?
