Kickin’ it old school with a super cool modern edge, here is Mother of Pearl‘s AW12 collection. Maia Norman and Amy Powney have worked with artists in the past, as you’ve seen in our previous posts, this time Fred Tomaselli enters the picture with hummingbird and kaleidoscope images alongside stripes wide and thin on
silk jersey sweatshirts, palazzo pants and tailored blousons. Comfort and wearability are imperative to Norman, who has athletic interests (she surfs and rides motocross bikes), however, this low key vibe does not compromise cut and quality which translates to a RTW collection that is chic and makes sense. Norman, who met her husband artist Damien Hirst back in the punk rock scene has kept that "no nonsense", "no conformist" attitude. She say's she has "always been annoyed by unwearable fashion, it's ludicrous". She is definitely talking the talk and walking the walk in this collection; there is a piece in here for anyone, whatever your style, in this piece the person wearing it will be completely modern, comfortable and super chic. And the accessories rock as well.
