Moscow-based design agency Fork was commissioned by the chain of noodle bars Mary Wong to rethink and rebrand their endeavor. The end result is a strapping balance between smart branding and a colorful ambient for their costumers.
The archetypal noodle bar is often portrayed in movies and, most times, in travel photography as the usual run-down/decadent store, but always full of charm. No wonder the neon lights are still in attendance no matter the locality, Mary Wong’s noodle bar is no exception with their custom-made lights making for a strong presence. Using a well-lit ambient to their advantage, Fork took the minimal industrial aesthetic and took one step above with precise and well-balanced color lighting and materials.
Mary Wong’s noodle bar would fit perfectly in an imaginary 2046 sequel by Wong Kar-Wai/Christopher Doyle, one can dream.
