The trend for cross-cultural folklore and heraldic symbolism continues as designers played with handcrafted looks and decorative embellishments on the Fall Winter 2014 runways. With an update on her signature digital prints, Mary Katrantzou proved herself as a visual storyteller, showing a collection of emblazoned perfection and power at London Fashion Week.

Balanced by sporty jersey silhouettes, grecian pleats and brocade suits, the obvious stars were shifts of metallic chain-mail and delicate badge-encrusted guipure lace. Other notable looks included sleek wool topcoats, color-blocked knife skirts and embroidered mink sweatshirts. Having stated the need to break from computer generated patterns, Katrantzou delivers a grounded contemporary style with all the opulence and symbolism of the past.
