The dark days were through with Bobby Hebb’s love-a-thon, one of the most soul-driven songs ever written and loved. “Sunny” is a transformation of love itself now topped with a modern cherry by Swiss producer, Mercury. Doubtful was any fan of this heartful Motown hit that the sun could shine brighter, but those quick, tribal drums give another reason to be happy.
The slow jams belonged to Hebb as much as the thumping wooden beats. Then came along Marvin Gaye, The Prince of Soul, who shined even more light onto Hebb’s toned-down pitch. Classic to the bone, enjoy this Thursday throwback. Happy listening!
