Born with debilitating deformities in both her legs caused radiation leaks form power plants in her native Ukraine, both her legs were amputated in the USA after her being adopted by a family from Kentucky. She has been rowing from the 8th grade and now trains 6 days a week. She is prepping for the Paralympic games slated to start August 29th in London.

Remember the awesome Celebrity portraits series by Martin Schoeller?! For the past few months, Schoeller has been traveling all over the US shooting the rising stars of the 2012 Olympic Games for TIME Magazine and Women’s Health. His portraits of Gabby Douglas, Lolo Jones and Ryan Lochte will be appearing on three simultaneous covers of TIME Magazine this week, hitting stands this past Friday. The shots of Natalie Coughlin and Allyson Felix ran in this month’s Women’s Health. While his portrait of Natsia Liukin did not, as she face planted during a qualifying round and unfortunately did not make it to the games.

I like it. And it grabbed your attention esp. if you posted a comment below. whether you love it or hate I don't see anything where it promotes violence or degrading women.. what i see is government taking away the rights of a citizen n the rights away from people. Failure to follow instructions will land us in prison like the model. Now if steven photographed the same concept with average shmucks would we pay much attention to it? i dont think so. it'd be just another political journalistic photograph.3
