Maiko Takeda’s Atmospheric Reentry

It’s been four years since Maiko Takeda‘s last collection (granted, she’s filled up the gap with projects for Huffpost and ASVOFF). So it’s understandable that she’s moved from using hand-pieced silver, gold plated brass, and leather to the more futuristic film and perspex.

This is Maiko’s latest millinery collection, “Atmospheric Reentry”, presented at the Royal College of Art fashion show.

“While hats are commonly made with substantial and durable materials such as fabric, felt, plastic, leather so on, instead I wanted to create ethereal experiences for the wearer through the pieces,” she told Dezeen.
