Young Belgium graphic designer Louise Mertens has been making collages since she was little, making it such a trademark of herself. She admires the sophisticated quality of Japanese art and she has always been inspired by the female body, the mysterious and the incomprehensible. There is a simplicity in the contours, in the minimalism of the lines, in its eye for detail.
“The subtle but important details force you to look with more patience,”
she says. “And patience is really important in my work.” She likes to step into dialogue with fashion images through hiding and altering parts of her characters. Manipulation and mixed-media in his purest form.
