Voluntary imperfections. Louise Mertens sensually manipulates images in a minimalist style. Femininity floats in textured and balanced compositions. Neutral colors and abstractions mingle with models in aestheticism of the numerical error. The Glitch Art highlights the unintended digital or analog error. Louise Mertens excels at it in the wake of the “glitch-alike” by deliberately choosing to alter its illustrations.
Via the digital retouching, paint and collage, duplicate, overlapping, images are diverted to give a new look at fashion photography: the recognition of imperfect beauty. Based in Antwerp, Belgium, the graphic artist begins to invent his world in early childhood where she cut and glue pieces in magazines. Always inspired by the female body and the sophistication of Japanese art, it subtly manipulates her creations leaving open a mysterious atmosphere.
