Japanese New York-based artist Kumi Yamashita‘s origami artworks are both simple and unbelievably complex. Using pieces of paper or wooden blocks, Yamashita creates realistic human profiles with just a few crinkles, folds, or arrangements of materials. Her work is so understated that if you don’t look close enough, you might miss the complexity. Careful observation shows how innovative and well-executed her works really are.
