Kostas Murkudis SS09 Collection

Womens SS09 Collection

Kostas Murkudis was born in Dresden in 1959. As his name suggests, his parents came from Greece. He went to West Berlin as a teenager and studied fashion at the Lette Foundation’s design school. After a short period as a trainee with Wolfgang Joop, he became the right-hand man of Viennese designer Helmut Lang in 1985. Murkudis stood in his “master’s” shadow for a long time, and his style was regarded as kind of “Lang No. 2”; those times are now gone for good. In 1992, Murkudis took the plunge and launched his first collection for women. After a show in Japan, his Paris debut in 1997 caused quite a stir. A menswear collection followed.
