While reading through the latest issue of French Magazine (#16), I discovered the brilliant still life photography of Koichiro Doi. In the issue there is a whole beauty editorial titled “Blur”, in which he photographs beauty compacts in very quick movement, creating a beautiful gradation of colors while abstracting the actual object.
I looked more deeply into his work to find out that he studied fashion at Parsons School of Design before realizing that it was actually photography he aspired to pursue. Upon his return to Tokyo he began to shoot and develop his own techniques, without any formal training. Seeing his portfolio and the roster of cutting edge brands/companies he has worked with, it is fair to say he has mastered the craft of beauty still life photography.
