Artist John Kirchner uses his art as a means to bring attention to the material things our society holds reverence to. He takes Classic ideas and bastardizes them by implementing imagery of modern lifestyle such as the bookcase filled with wonder bread and selected Classic works of literature. I guess you could call it a contemporary commentary on society through art, a concept that was introduced by masters like Duchamp and Magritte and later commercialized by Warhol. Of course there will always be arguments if such work can be called art but as long as there are arguments about it, there will be a place for this kind of work.
