German artist Katharina Grosse has transformed an abandoned building on a New York beach into an artwork using brightly colored spray paint. Titled ‘Rockaway!‘, this site-specific outdoor installation has been presented by MoMA PS1 in Gateway National Recreation Area at Fort Tilden, a former United States Army base on the Rockaway Point peninsula at the southwest tip of Queens.
“I wanted to make something that totally transforms the house,” says the German artist of “Rockaway!,”.
“So I wanted a color that is artificial and strange in that area.”
