Julien Colombier’s Le Printemps

Julien Colombier Le Printemps

Parisian painter Julien Colombier is no stranger to skate parks and graffitied walls. But this time around, he “bombed” the La Printemps department store in bourgeois Haussmann.
Taking colored chalk to a black background, the self-taught artist transformed the space into a tropical jungle of the exotic flora and fauna that he is known for. As a tribute to his eye for urban art and advertising, he partnered with DvF, Cacharel, Paul & Joe and others to dress 11 outside windows, and Baccarat fine crystal to deck out the atrium for its 250th anniversary.
“Imagined as a room in the apartment of a collector-traveler, each window represents the influences of major destinations of the world: Asia, the Tropics, India, Russia, Europe and the Middle East,” said Mr. Colombier’s representative, Thierry Kauffmann.
