Jay Riggio Surreal World of Images

Jay Riggio has cutting and pasting images for over 15 years. His work was born from a need to tell stories and express a series of feelings, without the ability to illustrate.

Jay comes from a background in writing and film cinematography, which are quite relevant influences for his form. Through his skillful use of an x-acto knife, scissors, and glue, Jay brings together parts of images creating surreal worlds where objects enter a new context. He digs out magazines from 60’s through the 80’s because he loves the blown out color in the photography from that period.

His collages have been featured in galleries through out the US and around the world and he has done commercial work for the New York Times T Magazine, Gather Journal, Vulture Magazine, Alice McCall and so on.
