“Onesome,” the first track off I am Harlequin‘s forthcoming EP introduces London-based musician, Anne Freier like a shot from a cannon. Recently named #17 in the Last.fm “New Discovery Charts,” the artist–who writes, produces, and records all her own music--deserves her own opus, and that is exactly what “Onesome” is. An ode to oneself, the song is a testament to a sequence of unsuccessful relationships and an epidemic of bad boys and girls.

The Brit says,”I subconsciously wrote it to give [people] a little encouragement. Being alone has its perks.” Citing quirky influences like The Cure, and The Smiths, she captures a capacity for spirit and an innovativeness, which bottles power as big as Florence Welch (of Florence & the Machine). Without a doubt, her sound has near genetic similarities to Florence, but once her EP drops this summer, we hope it debuts in no one’s shadow.
