Huxtabook: Recipes from Sea, Land & Earth

Melbourne based holistic design practice, A Friend of Mine, worked with publishers Hardie Grant to design Daniel Wilson’s first cookbook ‘Huxtabook: Recipes from Sea, Land & Earth’ based on recipes from Wilson’s much loved restaurant Huxtable.

The curious subtitle denotes the key sections of the book: Sea (Seafood), Land (Meats) and Earth (Vegetable dishes). These book sections are referenced throughout the design with a map style layout of food photography, where a subtle blue slate background represents the sea, and casually tableclothed areas make up the land. The styling is combined with overlaid map style text to give details of interest about dishes or page.
