There are a lot of -isms out there and it’s pretty hard to keep them all straight. London-based graphic designer Genis Carreras has created a series of 48 clever posters, or “philographics”, each featuring a term and an icon, to refresh your memory on some of the most important -isms we should all be familiar with. Commonly used words and philosophical concepts like “nihilism” and “existentialism” are simply explained in one sentence and are cleverly visually represented by a bold, colorful, minimal graphic. Carreras masterfully distills some of the most profound and abstract concepts into a few basic shapes and colors, while still maintaining the essence of each philosophy. These philographics are intelligently composed, pleasing to look at, truly thought-provoking, and a great starting point for some intense philosophical discussions. Here are just some of our favorites from the innovative series.
