COS has commissioned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto to create an installation that shines light on the interaction between movement and space, light and body, nature and artificial form. The installation will be open from April 12th through the 17th for COS’ fifth appearance during Salone del Mobile. Titled Forest Of Light, the work embodies cones of light that illuminate a darkened space below, responding to and interacting with the movements of the visitors. Sounds envelop viewers, and when paired with fog and mirrored walls the landscape becomes immersive and interactive. Inspired by COS’ clothing line for men and women, Fujimoto’s work blends minimalism and simplicity in a satisfying layered way.
Fujimoto said,
“The COS pavilion is the purest realisation of the forest concept. This forest is not static, but light and people interact with one another, this interaction connects fashion, space and forest as a form of architecture.”
