After completing studies at the Cologne Werkschule, she enrolled in the Düsseldorf School of Art, where she was taught by Bernd and Hilla Becher.

For several decades Candida Höfer made architectural “portraits” of numerous treasure-houses across the world: the Louvre, Uffizi Gallery, the Royal Portuguese Library in Rio de Janeiro, La Scala opera-house in Milan, and many others.

Each of the interiors Höfer captures exists in a number of socio-cultural and historical contexts simultaneously; their current look has been shaped over years of long cultural and architectural history. By drawing us into the inaccessible, strange and ‘private’ life of public spaces and breaking through our inherent difficulties in the perception of architecture, Candida Höfer’s photographs return to public spaces the aura of unique works of art.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1435756849764{margin-top: 5% !important;margin-bottom: 5% !important;padding-right: 5% !important;padding-left: 5% !important;}” full_width_row=”false” parallax_speed=”0.5″ bg_type=”theme_default” bg_grad=”background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%, #FBFBFB), color-stop(50%, #E3E3E3), color-stop(100%, #C2C2C2));background: -moz-linear-gradient(top,#FBFBFB 0%,#E3E3E3 50%,#C2C2C2 100%);background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top,#FBFBFB 0%,#E3E3E3 50%,#C2C2C2 100%);background: -o-linear-gradient(top,#FBFBFB 0%,#E3E3E3 50%,#C2C2C2 100%);background: -ms-linear-gradient(top,#FBFBFB 0%,#E3E3E3 50%,#C2C2C2 100%);background: linear-gradient(top,#FBFBFB 0%,#E3E3E3 50%,#C2C2C2 100%);” parallax_style=”vcpb-default” bg_image_repeat=”no-repeat” bg_image_size=”cover” bg_img_attach=”fixed” parallax_sense=”30″ bg_override=”0″ equal_height=”true”][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_single_image image=”152042″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″ full_width_row=”false” fixed=”true” parallax_speed=”0.5″][vc_column_text]Candida Höfer Deutsche Oper am Rhein Dusseldorf I 2012
