El Guincho, the Spaniard rock ‘n’ roller (aka Pablo Díaz-Reix), has successfully created a refreshing summer-like feel that doesn’t feel misplaced in the dead of winter (f0r those of us in seasoned cities–LA, you don’t count). It’s a party in your stereo, or any of your mediums for rocking out. His 4th album, Pop Negro, is titled to represent its afro-beat groove and has kept fans waiting for more to come since its 2010 release. Despite its novelty, I chose to feature “Palmitos Park,” a former single, which grasped my attention more so than the more recent albums. It just seems to have that right amount of jungle fever.
