Daniel Delisle and Benoit Paillé‘s DollarStore project sheds light on important themes and issues surrounding mass production of dollar-store objects, along with the repercussions they cause to the societies that produce them.
According to the artists, the plastic trinkets’ retail cost per unit has nothing in common with the value of the lives regularly lost in the manufacturing chain of such. In this perspective, they approach the subject in a quasi-sculptural way, manipulating and transforming it physically before taking a picture.
