It really piqued my curiousity to see such restraint at Paris Fashion Week last week. I think the moment Ghesquiere was out at Balenciaga last Fall we all collectively could see a tidal wave of new fashion on the horizon. It reflects the, let’s call it, “inter-continentialization” of high dress, and Raf Simons is definitely leading us all to the cutting edge. It is a pure joy to watch the Dior woman evolve under his direction, for Fall/Winter she’s sporting influences from Asia and Africa, while stepping into the future with high tech fabrics and fresh construction. I really hope to see the rest of the ateliers build on this new perspective next season.
