Delorean: Stay Close

If you’ve yet to hear Delorean‘s “Stay Close,” you’ve been starving yourself of a delicious treat for the last 4 months. Tsk-tsk, my music-lovin’ friend. Now that you’ve been gently reprimanded, let me reward you with some details about this delightfully alternative band. With Spanish roots and an American electronic punk influence, the quartet–made up by Ekhi Lopetegi (vocalist/bassist), Guillermo Astrain (guitarist), Unai Lazcano (keyboardist), and Igor Escudeo (drummer)–set out to make people dance. The Barcelona-based group more widely exposed itself to the press by remixing for The xx, Franz Ferdinand, and Cold Cave. The boys’ successful debut at SXSW festival in Austin Texas, first 2 record releases, and tour with Swedish groups jj and Miike Snow got them ready for a triumphant launch of their newest album, Subiza this last March and a worldwide distribution deal with New York label, True Panther Sounds.

The four-piece band layers their tracks with broken female chants, synth-pop keyboards, punkish vocals, polished grooves and an after-hours sensation: what I like to deem “space cadet, dance vibes.” Go on, lose yourself in reverie.
