If I’m ever disappointed about anything, just thinking about Iris makes me feel inspired again. Her existence has changed the way people think about fashion, and about themselves in the meantime. I hope to be like her ASAP, not just once I’m her age. -Tim Noakes, Dazed & Confused editor
When you don’t dress like everybody else, you don’t have to think like everybody else. -Iris Apfel
For the Dazed & Confused Novemeber 2012 issue, Jeff Bark photographed 91-year old fashion guru, Iris Apfel. Shot in Apfel’s Manhattan home, stylist Robbie Spencer and photographer Jeff Bark’s channel Apfel’s “zen-meets-baroque style” in this alluring editorial. This eclectic fashion icon has ‘dressed the rooms of nine Presidents, played mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to successive generations of designers and advanced the cause of dressing-as-art more than almost anyone else alive.’
Now let’s just hope when I am 91 I can pull off Rei Kawakubo’s 2D A/W 12 collection for Comme des Garçons as well as she can!
