David’s Bowie’s all-pervasive comeback has reached a crescendo with his first ever international retrospective now showing at London’s V&A Museum. The astounding exhibition, in collaboration with Gucci, takes an in depth view of the art forms that influenced Bowie and were influenced by him. Fashion is a big focus for the exhibition and on display are more than 60 stage-costumes including Ziggy Stardust bodysuits designed by Freddie Burretti, Kansai Yamamoto’s flamboyant creations for the Aladdin Sane tour and the Union Jack coat designed by Bowie and Alexander McQueen for the Earthling album cover. Despite the years the designs still convey a sense of radical vision, but at the same time evoke nostalgia for a period of uncompromising creativity.
