Ivan Orkin, a chef whose name is synonymous with ramen has taken his talents to the Lower East Side with his Japanese bred venture Ivan Ramen.
Celebrated for his skillful interpretation of noodle-based dishes in Tokyo, Long Island native Ivan Orkin debuts his downtown flagship after establishing quite the rapport for his flagrant dishes at his two Tokyo born restos.
Far beyond the breadth of traditional ramen cuisine, Orkin experiments in flavor while stretching our imagination of ramen possibilities with a hearty “Triple Pork Triple Garlic Mazemen” and a spicy chicken-pork hybrid named “Spicy Red Chili Ramen.”
The Clinton street slurp shop dabbles in everything from buttermilk sauced pork meatballs to a veggie adapted Coney Island dog while of course serving up a plethora of ramen dishes, even offering add-ons.
A cuisine adapted by the Japanese and originally scored by the Chinese, Orkin gives back to their roots with Chinese custom dishes including broccoli with garlic and a pickled daikon appetizer. We had the honor of experiencing the menu in its entirety by the American ramen master himself for a Trendland dinner seated with industry creatives and friends.
Let’s not forget to mention Orkin’s recent undertaking and spotlight in the “Culinary Beats” series fusing the worlds of music and food. The original series, presented by the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, exists as an interview platform where artists and chefs delve into their mutual passion for beats and eatery. Whether traveling through Tokyo or New York and looking to indulge in top ramen, visit the noodle shop Ivan Ramen, you have our vote.
