Contemporary Swedish Art Jewellery Book

Art historian Inger Wästberg is so fascinated by the jewelry of her countrymen—more art than accessory, really—that she turned her personal collection into a book. Crisply laid out by Stockholm-based Studio Parasto Backman, Contemporary Swedish Art Jewelry features 31 Swedish jewelry artists from the nineties to the present.

“The starting point for me was a necklace made by Mona Wallström, which I bought in 1999,” Ms. Wästberg told Art Jewelry Forum of the seminal piece that since became a conversation starter. “That was a time of major change in my life as I had decided to join my husband, who had been appointed Consul General for Sweden in New York.” She recalled how people would ask about her necklace at many receptions and social events, where she, the de facto diplomat, would delight in telling them that it was from back home.
