Commes des Garçons F/W 2012BY Amanda Jakubik / Apr 02 12 @ 3:37 PM
Rei Kawakubo's inspiration for Comme des Garçons this Fall was a cheeky two dimensional world. The extremely exaggerated shapes of this collection, which appeared to be flat as a pancake and looked almost like clothes for a cartoon paper doll, made their dramatic entrance on a music-less runway. A parade of raspberry, mauve, cobalt blue, green and pinks, the large coat jackets, skirt suits, and jumpers done in felt were void of trimmings and fasteners. Printed floral velvet, pared down polka dots, camo and leopard motifs were Kawakubo's perfect touches in manifesting the minimalist yet flamboyant Comme sensibility that we have come to know and love.
