Local Natives: Columbia

“Am I Giving Enough? Am I Loving Enough? Am I?”

With the success of their 2010 debut album Gorilla Manor, you can imagine the anticipation and pressure revolving around California Rock band Local Natives‘ recently released second album, Hummingbird.

      2. 10 Columbia

With the departure of bassist Andy Hamm, the Los Angeles quartet has teamed-up with Aaron Dessner who has contributed to songwriting and shares production credit on the album, acting out as the missing 5th over-productive member.

Regularly compared to groups such as Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes, we might also add a lyrical resemblance to the great Thom Yorke, especially on this “Columbia” track. The pulpy percussion and swell bass sound, turn this track into something surprisingly warm and exceedingly purifying. Do check out the rest of the Hummingbird album; definitely worth the wait.
