Brooklyn We Go Hard Pop Up Store [Paris]

store

Brooklyn We Go Hard: a catchy, almost surprising name for a French fashion label. Since 2010, the label, who just opened up its first brick and mortar, has been taking its cues from the creations of a collective urban youth.

Photographers, artists, writers, cultural events, all provide inspiration to founders David Obadia and Nelson Hassan. The brand is somewhat of a mix between American street-wear brands and avant-garde looks of Comme des Garçons and Raf Simons. The storefront will be open through the end of September, so you’d better hop on a plane to Paris asap. (Not like you needed a reason to go.) The BWGH store is located in the Cité de la Mode et du Design: a space that often houses all fashion events and exhibitions. The shelves are stocked with buttery suede jackets, dope floral prints, and ombre cable-knit sweaters. David Obadia designed the store’s interior to be a fresh, young space, and we hear he was quite pleased with the outcome.  The blue walls are a tribute to the brand’s favorite artist Yves Klein. Regarding the brands somewhat confusing choice of name, “people in Paris want to be in New York and Tokyo, and vice versa and vice versa,” Obadia says. “Everybody doesn’t want to be where they are.” We can’t argue with wanting to be in Paris…
