Bouchra Jarrar Couture Fall 2012

Jarrar_

On first look, the masculine-feminine tailoring of Bouchra Jarrar may seem amiss amongst the lavishly fashioned and opulent couture looks sent down the runways by fellow Federation Francaise de la couture members.  However, the meticulously cut finished day wear Jarrar has built her name upon will set the bar for the pret a porter designers who follow suit two months later.  With a sharp eye for tailoring, Jarrar showed her sixth couture collection Monday morning at the Musee Bourdelle, and this season Jarrar wanted to show her more feminine side.  She did just that with soft, flaring a-line silhouettes, emphasis on the waist, and draped necklines.  Jarrar worked from a palette of pretty lavender, ivory and black, with flashes of kelly green layered under lily prints.  Asymmetrical frills suggested peplums, and cinching was ever present not just at the waist but in halters as well.  Pinstriped voile was shown with heavy, black leather belts and it is just this mix of naughty and nice that most excites us about the Jarrar sensibility.

Bouchra Jarrar will be available at modewalk.com this fall.
